The project
Under four layers of carpet and paint we found the original travertine floor and walls. We restored them, then did as little as possible.
The new work is almost all light: brass sconces drawn for the room, and a hidden cove that washes the vault after dark.
Guests now linger in the lobby. The bar takings doubled in the first season.
How it was made
Every decision came with a drawing and a price, agreed before the stone was cut.
