Choosing stone that will age well

Marble, travertine and limestone behave very differently after ten winters. A plain guide for clients.

Stone keeps a diary

Every stone records what happens to it. Polished marble shows every ring from a wine glass; honed limestone hides them; travertine fills with dust unless it is sealed.

The right stone depends on how you live, not on how the sample looks in the showroom.

A short guide

Kitchens: honed granite or a dense limestone. Bathrooms: honed marble, never polished on the floor. Hallways: travertine, filled and sealed. Anywhere with sunlight all day: avoid dark stone, it fades.
